Walgreens - Testing is available at no cost to eligible individuals who meet CDC criteria. Tests available for ages five and older. All drive-thru testing locations operate outdoors, and patients do not leave their vehicles. An appointment is required. According to the Hawaii COVID-19 State Portal, the Rapid Point-of-Care (POC) Test (ID NOW) and RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel are both nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT). Thus both test types are approved by the state of Hawaii. Walgreens website notes that the turnaround results time may vary, so plan accordingly. The cost of either test is $129. Some test results may take up to 72 hours, and due to the new restrictions effective beginning this past November 24, 2020, and still applicable today, that leaves us to advise proceeding with caution at this time for those specific tests. Instead, since Walgreen's website also states that the Rapid Diagnostic Test (ID NOW): The Rapid Point-of-Care (POC) - NAAT (ID NOW) test is performed on-site with results available within 24 hours, if possible, we'd recommend that option be selected for travel to Hawaii at this time.
